I used to spend more time daydreaming about change than actually building it.

I had the ideas. The late-night Google searches. The notes in my phone. The ache to create something that felt like mine.

But most days? I was just tired. Tired from giving so much to everyone else. Tired of guessing my way through. Tired of feeling like if I didn’t get it exactly right… it wasn’t worth trying at all.

But every time I tried to move… I froze. I’d second-guess every step. I’d pick apart everything before it even had a chance to live. You know the concept of looking for the "perfect" niche. I didn’t feel capable, confident, or “ready enough.” And honestly? I didn’t see the point in starting if I wasn’t going to get it exactly right.

So a year would pass, and then I would fanaticize about what life would be like if I built something. This cycle went on for years.

From 2016 to 2022, I was constantly preparing, overthinking, tweaking, quitting. And looking back, those six years weren’t wasted because I didn’t care. They were heavy because I cared so deeply. I just didn’t know how to let go of perfect long enough to let myself be seen, to be a beginner, to build something with shaky hands.

But here’s what changed:

One day I realized perfect was never coming. There would NEVER be a perfect time.
And staying stuck was costing me too much of my peace, my potential, and the presence I wanted with my family. I decided that I had to do something different.

I stumbled upon the idea that:

"Done is better than perfect."

All I needed to do was start.

But where? And, this is where I see so many others stuck. The answer is anywhere, there is no wrong answer. Do what makes sense to you, as long as you are starting and then making forward progress your changing your trajectory.

This butterfly effect, can only take place if you take action.

It's the small moves that seem insignificant that create momentum. And truthfully the more I moved, the easier it got.

The Lie That Keeps You Stuck

We’re often told especially as women, as moms, as professionals that we need to "get it right" or not at all. We’re spoon-fed the pressure to be amazing at everything from the start. This starts in childhood with "good girl" conditioning.

In business you will often hear women working towards, the perfect plan, brand, caption, and even perfect timing.

But here's the truth. None of that exists, you and I both know that’s not how life works. And that pressure? It’s just fear dressed up in a nice outfit. You may have said:

  • “It’s not ready yet.”

  • “Who am I to do this?”

  • “Let me just fix one more thing…”

That fear wants you to delay until it’s too late. If you listen to it, you'll always be stuck.

But guess what? Perfectionism doesn’t protect you.

It prevents you. Our bodies fear the unknown, letting our brains will make every excuse to not take action. Under the guise of keeping us safe.

Why Progress is More Powerful

You don’t need to do it perfectly to make an impact. You don’t need to do it perfectly to create income. You don’t need to do it perfectly to earn rest, joy, or peace.

You just need to start.

Because action leads to clarity. Movement builds momentum. Even the messiest “try” teaches you more than ten years of planning ever will.

We cannot do better until we know better. And we can’t know better until we try, fail, tweak, and try again.

Let me ask you something real:

Have you ever learned anything important from something that went perfectly?

Because I sure haven’t.

But here's the thing lessons I’ve gained from messing up — those are the ones that made me.

    3 Shifts That Changed Everything

If perfectionism has had you in a chokehold, here’s what helped me move through it:

    • Done is better than perfect.
Finish it messy. Hit publish anyway. Your B- work could change someone’s life.

    • Comparison is the thief of joy.
Don't compare your step 1 to others step 1,000.

    • You can refine later — but you can’t improve what doesn’t exist.
Let version 1 be a stepping stone, not a shame story.

    Take It From Me

When I look back on the version of me that waited… who tiptoed around her dreams for years… I don’t feel shame. I feel tenderness.

She didn’t know what she knows now. She thought playing small would keep her safe. She didn’t know that starting messy was actually the doorway to freedom.

And now? I launch things before they’re ready.

I experiment. I allow myself to be seen in process. I fail faster. And every time I get back up — I’ve grown.

Let Me Leave You With This

That thing you've been dreaming about? That course, that podcast, that offer, that passive income stream…

It doesn’t have to be perfect to begin.

You’re allowed to be seen as you grow. You’re allowed to figure it out as you go. You’re allowed to get it wrong and still be worthy of success.

You want time freedom, more then anything. You want to be present with your kids, have more income without trading hours for it. It doesn’t require you to be perfect.

    It requires you to start.
